A look ahead: PES 2009 Question of the Month

June 29, 2008

We’ve left you with a question this week about the upcoming release of PES 2009. As you can see on the sidebar to the right, we ask you: “What key improvement for PES2009 would please you most?”
Keep in mind that choosing one option means not much will be changed to the other two options. For example, choosing better online play would mean an excellent online product with no lag, but it would mean only a few minor tweaks have been made to the gameplay and graphics.

If you want to elaborate on your point, leave a comment below and suggest a question for next month at nextgenpes@gmail.com

PES 2008 Online Maintenance Scheduled for July 7th

June 28, 2008

Just a heads up for the 4 of you that still play Konami’s laggy mess that is PES 2008 online, an “emergency maintenance” has been scheduled on July the 7th. I personally doubt they would try to improve the online performance while they are right in the middle of development for PES 2009, but it would be a pleasant surprise!

Konami: No comment to make on Wii PES 2009

June 27, 2008

After the announcement that PES 2009 would be released on the PS3,XBOX 360,PS2,Nintendo DS and the PSP, some gamers noticed the lack of any mention of the Wii version. Due to it’s relative success on the innovative new platform, it came as a big shock that they did not have anything lined up at the moment.

Konami had this to say on PES 2009 for the Wii: “We cannot comment on anything other than is in the release.”

However, it is very early days and an announcement in the near future announcing its release on the platform would come as no surprise.

Celtic Bug On PES2008

November 8, 2007

Try not to act too surprised guys, but it looks like another PES 2008 glitch has surfaced. Just a quick heads up that according to various PES players from other websites, there is a glitch on Master League mode, where if you play against Celtic, the game won’t start, and your master league will be over. Apparently, you can’t even pick up from the nearest save data, because you’ll still get the same error upon playing them.
I myself have had no issues playing Celtic in the ML, but if you’re about to start one, you might aswell stay on the safe side and remove them from your league.

Konami Release Statement About The Slowdown

November 8, 2007

Here is an email PESfan have received from Konami on the subject of slowdown.

Konami Digital Entertainment is aware that some players of PES2008 are experiencing “stuttering” by their machine when playing on PS3. (This does not occur on other formats). After checking the matter we have found that the problem is primarily taking place where the user is not playing the game in high definition.

The solution to this problem is to play the game on an HD TV (high definition screen) with an HDMI or component cable and the PS3 set to output in 720p resolution or above. This should prevent the problem and allow the player to enjoy the full HD experience provided by their PlayStation 3.

Please note: to achieve high definition it is necessary to use HDMI or component cables instead of the AV (composite) cable supplied with the PS3.

We are continuing to work on finding a solution for those people who do not have access to an HD TV.

In the meantime Konami would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused

This is very dissapointing, considering quite a few people on various websites, including me, have the resolution and cables required, yet the slowdown is still evident. Hopefully they’re not trying to weasel out of a patch and one will be released in the coming weeks.

Konami Talk About PES Online

November 7, 2007

Good to see they’ve found out where they’ve gone wrong and have set a deadline of November the 19th for the patches on both the PS3 and the 360.

Here’s the interview, courtesy of PESforum

There are several issues with the new release but the ones I am mainly concerned about for our users is the Achievements on xbox 360 version and Online play on both versions. Are you aware of how bad the online lag is at the moment both on the xbox 360 version and PS3 version? I am sure you have seen it for yourself and admit this needs to be fixed as a priority.

Yes the lag needs to be sorted out and is an issue we have been working on since a week before official release when we were first made aware of the issues. To minimise lag, try to play against people from your own country and turn all other Internet using equipment off.

Some people have reported seeing a goal go in but beein given a corner, or have seen a free kick go wide but was given as a goal, is this just all part of the lag and will it be fixed?

Yes it is, sometimes it will show on one persons screen as a corner, but the other as a goal, this is the game out of sync, this is the same as free kicks and other situations where on one screen it goes out for a corner but the other it goes in, but we have heard of cases that on both screens it did not go in but was still given as a goal, this is all down to the net code which is all part of the same lag issue which will be rectified with the patch.

Do you have a timescale on when the patch will be released for both versions?

We hope to have the patch released within two weeks at the latest, and have set a deadline of monday 19th November to get this to the public, as we are aware there are a lot of gamers out there that are avoiding a massive part of the game (online play) because of the online issues.

Are you aware of the problem people scoring free kicks online and not getting the achievement? Also several other achievements seem to be given to some people but not others.

Yes this is another issue that will be resolved with the patch, we cannot understand why some people have been given the achievement but others have not, we are currently working on a solution to this and will issue a statement explaining why this happens in the near future.

There are a lot of dissappointed PES fans out there that have even took the game back and bought a certain other football game, what would you say to them?

I would say to ALL PES fans to be patient with us while we rectify the problems, please be assured that we are working very hard to fix these problems. We hope that everyone will soon be enjoying the online aspect of the game which people will love playing with their friends and fellow gamers
